We made this beautiful brooch especially for Queen Máxima. On May 16, 2023, she opened the Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen. The museum opposite our studio.
For this occasion we made a unique version of the self-portrait brooch.
The 3 birthstones of her daughters hang from the brooch.
The first princess and heir to the throne: Amalia was born in December, the sparkling blue topaz is her stone.
Princess Alexia, born in June is represented by the beautiful pearl.
Princess Ariane was born in April, her rough diamond shows an awesome sparkle.
The brooch itself is made of solid 925 sterling silver. With luxurious locking backs made from strong base-material.
It is handmade in Nuenen a small town in the Netherlands where Vincent van Gogh painted a quarter of his oeuvre.
The diameter of the brooch is 22mm and is no less than 1mm thick.
It represents one of his famous Self-Portraits.
Van Gogh often used himself as a model for practicing figure painting. His Paris self-portraits serve as a useful record of his painterly experiments. This is one of them, here Van Gogh applied the technique of the Pointillists in his own, original way. He placed the short stripes of paint in different directions. Where they follow the outline of his head, they form a kind of halo.
Join our love for the amazing artist Vincent Van Gogh!
