About these earrings
These beautiful earrings are made of solid 925 sterling silver.
They are handmade in Nuenen a small town in the Netherlands where Vincent van Gogh painted a quarter of his oeuvre.
The diameter of the charms is 10mm, they are no less than 0.8mm thick.
They represent the painting almond blossom.
About Almond blossom 1890
Theo wrote to his brother Vincent in 1890, to announce the birth of his son, Vincent Willem van Gogh. Vincent then began to work on a painting for them. Almond trees flower early in the spring making them a symbol of new life.
“How glad I was when the news came… I should have greatly preferred him to call the boy after Father, of whom I have been thinking so much these days, instead of after me; but seeing it has now been done, I started right away to make a picture for him, to hang in their bedroom, big branches of white almond blossom against a blue sky.”
